Fiona is a consultant on trade policy and government relations, drawing on 23 years of experience in the private and public sectors. In addition to her own consulting company, Fiona is Managing Director – New Zealand for BowerGroupAsia, a USA-based consulting firm which advises companies on Asia Pacific affairs.

Fiona was previously Head of Corporate Relations at Bank of New Zealand for two years. Prior to that she held a range of trade policy leadership roles during more than a decade with Fonterra Cooperative Group, New Zealand Dairy Board and the Dairy Companies Association of New Zealand.

Before joining the private sector Fiona served for nine years in the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade including a trade policy posting to Washington DC. While in Washington she represented New Zealand at the FAO Consultative Subcommittee on Surplus Disposals and was elected to chair that body in 1995.

Also during her time in the Ministry Fiona was seconded to the New Zealand Parliament as private secretary (trade) to the Minister of Trade Negotiations, and served as junior foreign policy advisor to the Prime Minister. She also spent a year on exchange in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.

Fiona is on the Executive Board of the NZ-US Council and has served on its Advisory Board. She is Policy Advisor for the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) members in New Zealand and also the Australia - New Zealand Leadership Forum. She has a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Canterbury and has also studied leadership with INSEAD, the US Center for Creative Leadership and the Institute of Strategic Leadership in New Zealand.
